Classification of Steel Strands

The most commonly used steel strands are galvanized steel strands and prestressed steel strands. The diameter of prestressed steel strands is usually in the range of 9.53mm-17.8mm, and there are a small number of steel strands with thicker diameters. Prestressed steel strands are twisted steel cables composed of 3, 7 or 19 high-strength steel wires, and are stress-relieved (stabilized) and suitable for prestressed concrete or similar purposes.

According to the number of steel wires in a steel strand, it can be divided into 2-wire steel strands, 3-wire steel strands, 7-wire steel strands and 19-wire steel strands. According to the surface morphology, it can be divided into smooth steel strands, notched steel strands, die-drawn steel strands (compact), galvanized steel strands, epoxy-coated steel strands, etc. It can also be classified according to diameter, strength level, or standard.
