Description

Hot-rolled round steel with a diameter of 5-4mm and threaded steel with a diameter of less than 10mm are generally called wire rods. Wire rods are mostly supplied in coils by coiling machines, so they are also called wire rods or coils. Wire rods are mainly used as raw materials for reinforcement and welding structures of reinforced concrete or reprocessing (such as wire drawing, formulation, etc.). According to the steel distribution catalog, wire rods include ordinary low-carbon steel hot-rolled wire rods, electric welding wire rods, wire rods for blasting wires, quenched and tempered threaded wire rods, and high-quality wire rods. The most widely used wire rods are ordinary low-carbon steel hot-rolled wire rods, also known as ordinary wire rods. They are hot-rolled from Q195, Q215, and Q235 ordinary carbon steels with a nominal diameter of 5.5-14.0mm. The weight of each coil is generally 100-200kg. Now they are mostly rolled on a torsion-free high-speed wire mill and controlled cooling is adopted after rolling. The maximum coil weight of 5.5-22.0mm in diameter can reach 2500kg. Ordinary wire is mainly used for construction, wire drawing, packaging, welding rods and manufacturing bolts, nuts, rivets, etc. High-quality wire only supplies high-quality carbon structural steel hot-rolled wire rods. Such as 08F, 10, 35Mn, 50Mn, 65, 75Mn, etc. It is used as the raw material of metal products such as steel wire and other structural parts, and other high-quality steel rolled wire. It is customary to classify wires above 8mm as high-quality profiles, and wires below 8mm as metal products.

Wire is one of the most widely used steel varieties. After rolling, it can be directly used for reinforcement and welding of reinforced concrete structures, or it can be used after further processing. For example, it is drawn into various specifications of steel wire, then twisted into steel wire rope, woven into steel wire mesh, wound into shape and heat-treated into springs; hot and cold forged into rivets and cold forged and rolled into bolts, screws, etc.; cut and heat-treated into mechanical parts or tools, etc.
