The difference between rebar and round steel
The main differences between rebar and round steel are as follows:
Different appearance. The outer surface of round steel is smooth; the outer surface of rebar has spiral ribs;
Different production standards. In the current standard, round steel refers to HPB235 grade steel bar, and its production standard is "Hot-rolled smooth steel bar for reinforced concrete" (GB13013); rebar generally refers to HRB335 and HRB400 grade steel bar, and its production standard is "Hot-rolled ribbed steel bar for reinforced concrete" (GB1499);
Different strength. The design strength of round steel (HPB235) is 210MPa; the strength of rebar is higher than that of round steel, the design strength of HRB335 is 300MPa; the design strength of HRB400 is 360MPa;
Different steel types (different chemical composition). Round steel (HPB235) is carbon steel, and the steel type is Q235; rebar is low alloy steel, HRB335 grade steel is 20MnSi (20 manganese silicon); HRB400 grade steel is 20MnSiV or 20MnSiNb or 20MnTi, etc.;
The main function of steel bars is to increase the tensile strength and ductility of concrete components, making them more resistant to earthquakes, cracks and deformation. At the same time, steel bars can also connect concrete components, increase component strength, and control crack expansion. Steel bars are usually divided into two types: ordinary steel bars and high-strength steel bars, which differ in the tensile strength and yield strength.
