Rebar is the common name for hot-rolled ribbed steel bars, which usually have two longitudinal ribs and evenly distributed transverse ribs along the length. The transverse ribs are spiral, herringbone, and crescent-shaped. The nominal diameter is expressed in millimeters. The nominal diameter of ribbed steel bars is equivalent to the nominal diameter of plain round steel bars with the same cross section.
The grade of ordinary hot-rolled steel bars is composed of HRB and the minimum yield point of the grade. H, R, and B are the first letters of the three words Hot Rolled, Ribbed, and Bars.
Hot-rolled ribbed steel bars are divided into three grades: Grade 2 HRB335 (old grade 20MnSi), Grade 3 HRB400 (old grade 20MnSiV, 20MnSiNb, 20Mnti), and Grade 4 HRB500.
