The zinc coating usually melts at 850 to 900°F and evaporates at 1500°F, while steel melts at 2600°F, so during welding, the zinc layer completely evaporates when the weld pool freezes. The thickness of the zinc coating determines its service life. Electrolytic galvanizing is a physical reaction, and the zinc layer attached to the surface of the pipe is thin and easy to rust, while hot-dip galvanizing is a chemical reaction that forms a thick protective layer that is not easy to rust. After years of exposure to air and complex environments, the sacrificial corrosion properties of the zinc coating will be exhausted and eventually rust.
