Color-coated sheet, also known as coated sheet or color steel sheet, is a product made of metal coil (cold-rolled sheet, hot-dip galvanized sheet, aluminum-coated sheet, high aluminum alloy sheet, stainless steel sheet, etc.) as the base material, and various organic coatings or plastic films are applied or pressed on the surface. Because it is a coil of surface coating in a metallurgical plant, users can directly process it into products, so it is also called pre-coated coil. Color-coated coil is a product made of hot-dip galvanized sheet, hot-dip aluminum-zinc sheet, electro-galvanized sheet, etc. as the base material, and after surface pretreatment (chemical degreasing and chemical conversion treatment), one or several layers of organic coating are applied on the surface, and then baked and cured. Because it is coated with organic coatings of various colors, it is named colored Steel Coil, or color-coated coil for short.
In addition to the protection of the zinc layer, the organic coating on the zinc layer also covers and protects the color-coated steel strip using hot-dip galvanized Steel Strip as the base material, which can prevent the steel strip from rusting, and its service life is about 1.5 times longer than that of galvanized strip.
Uses
Color-coated coils are lightweight, beautiful and have good corrosion resistance. They can be processed directly. The colors are generally grayish white, sea blue, and brick red. They are mainly used in advertising, construction, home appliance, electrical appliance, furniture, and transportation industries, factories, gymnasiums, airports/stations, indoor partitions, warehouses, elevators, metal curtain walls, etc.
The coating used for color-coated coils can choose the corresponding resin according to the different use environments, such as polyester silicon-modified polyester, polyvinyl chloride plastisol, polyvinylidene chloride, etc. Users can choose according to the purpose.
Color-coated coil coating types
Polyester (PE) has good adhesion, rich colors, a wide range of formability and outdoor durability, medium chemical resistance, and low cost.
Silicon-modified polyester (SMP), the coating has good hardness, wear resistance, and heat resistance, as well as good external durability, anti-powdering and gloss retention, general flexibility, and medium cost.
High durability polyester (HDP) has excellent color retention and UV resistance, excellent outdoor durability and anti-powdering, good paint film adhesion, rich colors, and excellent cost performance.
Polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) has excellent color retention and UV resistance, excellent outdoor durability and anti-powdering, excellent solvent resistance and good formability and dirt resistance, but the color is limited and the cost is high.

Topcoat: Block sunlight to prevent UV damage to the coating; when the topcoat reaches the specified thickness, it can form a dense shielding film to reduce water permeability and oxygen permeability
Primer: It is beneficial to strengthen the adhesion of the primer, so that the paint film is not easy to desorb after water permeation, and improve corrosion resistance, because the primer contains corrosion-inhibiting pigments such as chromate, which can passivate the anode and improve corrosion resistance.
Coating: Generally galvanized or aluminum zinc, which has a greater impact on the service life of the product. The thicker the coating, the better the corrosion resistance.
Substrate: Generally cold-rolled plate, different strengths determine the mechanical properties of color coated plates.
Back paint: It is used to prevent the steel plate from corroding from the inside. It is generally a two-layer structure (2/1M or 2/2, primer + back paint). If the back needs to be bonded, it is recommended to use a single-layer structure.
