To Understand the Process and Characteristics of Galvanized Color Coated Coil

2025-03-31

Color coated steel coilis a product made of hot-dip galvanized steel sheet, hot-dip aluminum-zinC Steel sheet, electro-galvanized steel sheet, etc., which is coated with one or several layers of organic coating on the surface after surface pretreatment (chemical degreasing and chemical conversion treatment), and then cured by baking. It is named after the colored steel coil coated with various colors of organic coatings, and is referred to as color coated steel coil.

What are the main uses of color-coated coils?
Color-coated coils are mainly used in modern buildings. They have good mechanical structural properties, and at the same time have beautiful, anti-corrosive, flame-retardant and some additional properties. They are made of materials pressed and processed by Steel Plates. The substrates of color-coated coils can be divided into cold-rolled substrates, hot-dip galvanized substrates, electro-galvanized substrates, etc.

The uses of color-coated coils mainly include:

1. In the construction industry, roofs, roof structures, rolling doors, kiosks, blinds, guard doors, street waiting rooms, ventilation ducts, etc.;

2. Furniture industry, refrigerators, air conditioners, electronic stoves, washing machine shells, oil stoves, etc.;

3. Transportation industry, automobile ceilings, back panels, hoardings, car shells, tractors, ship bulkheads, etc. Among these uses, steel structure workshops, composite panel workshops, and color steel tile factories are still used more.

For the development trend of color-coated coils, there is no clear distinction between good and bad. Everything is built in a relative state. It is mainly based on the target customers and how the manufacturer positions the product. Adapting to the market is the key factor. The technical requirements for galvanizing and magnesium-aluminum coating are relatively high, and the products can be used in the fields of automobiles, home appliances, etc. Color-coated coils are widely used in large-span factories, warehouses, office buildings, villas, rooftop additions, air purification rooms, cold storages, shops, kiosks and temporary buildings.

Color-coated steel sheets for home appliances have good processing and decorative properties. They are widely used as front panels, side panels, rear panels and inner panels of home appliances. Due to their rich colors and high production efficiency, color-coated steel sheets are widely used in exterior walls, roofs, interior decoration, doors and windows, etc., and are currently also popular in transportation, home appliances and other fields. Color-coated steel sheets for home appliances use special topcoats to make the surface glossy. The front panel uses a high molecular linear oil-free polyester resin coating, and the rear panel uses a modified epoxy coating.

The prefixes of the grades of coated steel sheets such as galvanized steel sheets, color-coated steel sheets, and hot-dip galvanized steel sheets are mostly the following grades: the first is the European standard DX51D. For example: DX51D+AZ/Z150; the second is the American standard ASTM. The third is the Japanese standard SGCC+Z+zinc content mark.
The first one is the European standard DX51D, where D stands for "plating", which means that the steel sheet is a coated steel sheet. X stands for "zinc". Among them, 51D represents the purpose. 51D indicates general structural steel. Or if the grade is 52D, it means that this sheet is a stamping sheet. If it is 53D, it means that it is a deep stamping sheet. As the X number in 5XD increases, it means that the steel is better and the stamping softness is stronger. The European standard is generally adopted by earlier state-owned steel mills, such as Anshan Iron and Steel, Benxi Iron and Steel, Wuhan Iron and Steel, etc. European standard grades are generally such as: DX51D+Z/AZ DX52D+Z/AZ DX53D+Z/AZ DX54D+Z/AZ.

The second type is the American standard ASTM A792, ASTM A792-1989 hot-dip aluminum-zinc alloy thin steel plate general requirements, the American standard is generally adopted by some domestic joint ventures.

The third type is the Japanese standard SGCC. Here we should especially introduce the zinc layer content letters and numbers behind the Japanese standard, such as the general Japanese standard SGCC+Z. The zinc layer weight mark will be added after Z, such as SGCC+Z27. Some people think that +Z27 means 27 grams of zinc per square meter? No. Z27 and Z270 in the European standard above mean the same thing, that is, 270 grams of zinc.

The fourth type is the enterprise standard. The enterprise standard is a steel grade developed by some large domestic steel mills based on international standards such as European standards, American standards, and Japanese standards.
